My daughter is painting her first model which will hopefully be taken by me to EuroMillitaire ... She's only 9, so we are just starting with base coats, washes and dry brushing. It's a lot better than my early daubs (in my late 20's).

I think I started at about that age as well, and this is miles and miles ahead of what I did then. This looks really good!

Looks good. Nice setup you have too! (Although the mess would drive me crazy ;))

Hmm, the eyes look wrong - they're supposed to come out like black and white fried eggs. Also, you could thicken your paints a bit, perhaps try Humbrol enamels? ;)

Seriously though, fantastic work for a first mini.

Messy? ... you should have seen it before I tidied up!! :D:p

Yes, those eye sockets did come out a bit darker than expected ... she was only following instructions, but with an overloaded brush.

All done in less than an hour too.

    Proud dad!

BTW ... It ain't finished ... The eyes will be done soon. Plus it needs a bit more highlight drybrushing ... And then there's the base.

All done. In the end my daughter was not up to dotting eyes in. I must admit that if they are slightly off then they can ruin a model, so she just popped a bit of gloss over the eyes ... not showing up in photo. Nothing worse than wonky eyes. IMG_8867.JPG IMG_8868.JPG IMG_8871.JPG

It's entitled SPRING ... and just needs the name plate which should arrive tomorrow :D.

She really enjoyed doing the flowers:cute

That's really great for a first piece - I don't think I was up to that level for a couple of years (and I still suck at doing eyes :laugh)

Thanks Fet ... you are too kind! ... she's been very proud to see her stuff on the internet.

I might see if there is something better that she could possibly do with the eyes. If anyone has any suggestions please fire away!

Fantastic job, looks like your planning for the name lifton to keep appearing on trophies.
Wish I had thought of that

I have lost count of how many times my daughter has told me that she beat me at EuroM :cry:cry ... but I promised her to pop some more photos of the wolf with her medal.
She has already told me that she wants to paint a better one for next year and beat me again ... hmm now I had promised the wife that I would not go to another 2 day event for at least 5 years, but if my daughter is insisting????

That's awesome she must be so proud as must you even though she beat you. Just started painting with my daughter she's 11. Starting her off on a nice blocky orc lol. She is not renowned for her patience but she's doing really well so far.
