Tribal Orc, by Paweł Makuch "Monstroys":
Lots more pics on Putty and Paint
The tiger skin shield is particularly awesome
Flap bust, by Monstroys:
The Chaos Maiden, by Nakatan:
Some WIP pics over on Planet Figure
Except the hair.
The hair is meh...
I think I'm the opposite. Something about this figure I really don't like. Think it's partly down to the fact it reminds me of when you have those daft modelling shoots, with unfeasibly lovely models dressed up in very unconvincing armour. It kind of feels a bit fake. Don't get me wrong - it's very well painted, but just don't think it works particularly well.
So that's what was wierding me out! Thanks Joe!
She's fantastically done, skin and tattoos and everything (though that hair is a little luminous, aye) but she's got a scratched shield and there's not a speck of wear and tear on her or her clothes...
Not that I can paint that cleanly if I tried, of course!
There is some great technique on this model but it does nothing for me - I am not drawn emotionally into the piece like I am with other versions of similar busts.
To paraphrase Banshee, this is colourised rather than painted with passion.
Smeagol, by Matti DiPietro:
An article about his painting process - pretty interesting!
Shiny, and a good article too...
Now, if only I could paint
this is the best I h've seen so f'r .
Warrior with Nobachi, by Anson:
I'm loving that guy's skin, and the wrap on the grip is lovely too.
I have to not look at the side on shots though, as the tip is bent oddly
What's the piece?
